White Rose Movement - 'Girls In The Back' (Independiente) Released 03/04/06

If any band is the embodiment of everything you might love or detest about Eighties revivalism it’s undoubtedly White Rose Movement. Just like ‘Love Is A Number’ and ‘Alsatian’ before it, be it the dated synths, Finn Vines’ highly sheened, almost digitalised voice or the “aye-aye-aye-ah” backing vocals, ‘Girls In the Back’ couldn’t be more retro if it tried. True, it’s easy to hate the band for parodying an amalgam of bands and their hyperbolised scenster-isms, but luckily this track has enough weight to surely win even a hardened cynic over. Surprisingly decent, then.
