Recently gashing open a leg during a London live performance, Ida Maria are proving that they’re not all innocence and friendliness. The lyrics in new single 'Stella' concur with this; “God was there/ always had the best of drugs/ knew where to get them/ from her lady friend” and Maria’s vocals are like an enraged Regina Spektor looking for trouble. ‘Stella’ is the best thing we’ve heard so far from this band – a memorable, sing-a-long verse and chorus that’ll triumph the festivals. It’ll doubtlessly gain them a great wave of recognition. A few triumphant live performances around these shores, without too many injuries, will benefit big time.
Released 10/03/08 on Nesna.
