Duran Duran have issued a statement condemning the use 'Hungry Like the Wolf' in an advert for Yoplait yogurt.
While the song has been used in adverts before, this time the band have spoken out about its use, saying that they weren't notified that it was going to be used. "Please know, Duran Duran do not support this usage of their music and unfortunately, this particular license was granted without any prior notification to any of us," the band wrote. "Had we known, under no circumstances would we have backed it."
Subsequently the advert has been removed, however not due to the band expressing their distaste for the use of the material. Viewers of the advert chose to express their extreme distaste, choosing to take to Facebook in order to condemn the use of the song due to its connection to the Diane Downs murder case from 30 years ago.

Back in 1983 Downs shot her three chidlren while 'Hungry Like the Wolf' was playing on the radio. When it was played back to her in court, she sat there tapping her feet and snapping her fingers along with the song.
“We chose the music because it’s a popular song that felt right for this ad," wrote the company in a statement. "The Yoplait team has discussed this quite a bit and found that the large majority of people have only positive connections to this song, given that the Diane Downs incident was more than 30 years ago.”
