Foster the People are a band who seemingly, after smash hit 'Pumped up Kicks' were away for a very long time. The song was a huge smash and afterwards the band ended up doing a lot of soul searching. Rather than cashing in and attempting to emulate their hit, they hit the road, deciding instead to travel around the world, discovering themselves on the way but coming back with more questions.
Songwriter Marc Foster describes the new album as much more honest than in the past, a more weighty record than their debut Torches. He describes Supermodel as more 'organic', guided in part by Adele's producer Paul Epworth. Foster states that they wanted to work with Epworth as he had a way of making things sound "timeless" but at the same time immediate. He also stated how they "didn't want to become Fleetwood Mac", a sentiment reflected in the way Supermodel (out 24 March) strives for its own identity.
