A woman has been jailed for biting off a fellow customer's ear at a pub disco for turning off a UB40 record.
Sophia Blackburn, 24, got into a scuffle with fellow Yorkshire pubgoer Stacey Wilkinson after Wilkinson turned off a record by the popular reggae pop band to put on the next track, and ended up pinning Wilkinson onto the dancefloor and sinking her teeth into her ear.
The incident took place at West Yorkshire pub The Horse and Groom in May 2013. Wilkinson told the Daily Mail: "My uncle was the DJ on the night and he’d asked me to sort out the last three songs for the night, which would take us up to 11pm.
"UB40 had been playing and when I put the next track on she just went nuts and attacked me."
Blackburn reportedly bit so hard that part of her tooth was left stuck in Wilkinson's ear. Wilkinson needed 35 stitches, and probably never wants to hear another UB40 track again.
It's been a bad week for UB40, whose Cambridge show on Monday saw dozens of attendees leave because it was too loud. One gig goer said the beat was "heart-altering" whilst another said it "crashed into you like a steam train."
