Foo Fighters surprised fans once again this weekend, by playing another last minute secret show - this time in New Orleans. See footage of the gig below.

The band, who are currently working on their eighth album in a variety of studios across the US, rolled into New Orleans with Butch Vig this weekend - before leaving to play a surprise gig in the courtyard of The Preservation Hall.

Consequence Of Sound reports that the performance meant that the whole surrounding area was shut down for several block due to high demand, with Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Régine Chassagne in attendance - who even joined the supporting Preservation Hall Jazz Band on stage for a performance of 'Iko Iko'.

Speaking to the crowd about their current recording process and time in New Orleans, Grohl told the crowd: "This time, I feel we might have gotten it right. We didn't just stay for one day, we stayed here long enough that we learned a little bit about the city, we've made a lot of new friends."

He then dedicated tracks to the local bar staff. Their hit-packed 90 minute set included Foo classics 'Times Like These', 'My Hero', 'Learn to Fly', and 'These Days' and 'This Is A Call' - the latter assisted by members of Preservation Hall and Trombone Shorty.

The gig was once again filmed as part of Dave Grohl's upcoming series on US network HBO, documenting the recording of eight songs in eight different cities: Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, DC and New York. Recent 'secret' shows in a Nashville cafe and at Washington's 9:30 Club were filmed too. The show will be televised in Autumn/Fall to coincide with the release of the album.
