Green Man Festival 2014 officially kicked off yesterday (15 August), with Daughter, Beirut, Caribou and a host of others taking to the Brecon Beacons for breath-taking performances.
With rain battering the festival as revellers camped on Thursday (14 August), the weather managed to hold throughout the first day of music, bathing the Welsh Valley in occasional bursts of sunshine.
Effortlessly filling the headline slot on The Mountain Stage, Beirut delivered a hit-filled set to a huge, receptive audience, with frontman Zach Condon seeming genuinely humbled by the eruptive crowd reaction.
Earlier in the day saw a rare live appearance from Sun Kil Moon, as well as a stunning set from Daughter on the festival's main stage, with tracks from their acclaimed debut album If You Leave gloriously resonating through the festivals ampitheatre-like setting.
Elsewhere on site, Mac Demarco delivered a typically explosive performance, playing heavily off his recent Salad Days LP and diving into the crowd during set closer 'Still Together', testing the trust of the audience after jumping from a pillar in the middle of The Far Out Tent to rapturous applause.
The festival continues throughout the weekend, with The War On Drugs, Mercury Rev, Sharon Van Etten and a host of others set to play today (16 August). Stay tuned to Gigwise for the latest news and updates from Green Man Festival 2014.
