Viva Brother return from dead as Lovelife

Hurts aping sound marks new direction for Gritpop act

Viva Brother return from dead as Lovelife

Twitter went into overdrive this morning when the ghost of 2011's great hopes Viva Brother came to light. Yes, they're back and this time they mean business.

We say business, what we mean is they've rebranded as Lovelife and taken a much cleaner, poppier direction through what we can only assume is studying Hurts look, sound and career. Yep, Lovelife are the new dapper dons of goth-pop, here to try and take some of the girls away from Theo Hutchcraft and maybe a slice of the European chart success too.

You can hear three of Lovelife's songs below and make up your own mind as to what you make of the artists formerly known as Brother/ Viva Brother (let's not even mention the time they were an emo band).

It is easy to mock them, and we've had plenty of fun doing so, but Lee Newell and co. certainly provide us with good value for money. That said, let's not pretend that if more than 12 people had bought Viva Brother's music we wouldn't be listening to them still prattling on about being the saviours of rock 'n' roll instead of this new direction.

We can't wait for them to start sounding like Ed Sheeran/ Lana Del Rey/ whoever else is popular, in 2013.
