Former N-Dubz rapper Dappy is clogging up our headlines for all the wrong reasons once again. Surely the latest charge of affray is the last straw for even the most fanatic N-dublet?
N-Dubz have a huge legion of fans that will no-doubt want to stand by Dappy and most of them won't want to believe he has done anything wrong. That's how it is when you are a fan of something, you want to support that person or team through thick and thin, but Dappy must be putting a strain on the relationship with his fans.
Dappy's charge of affray could see him slapped with a three-year jail sentence, but he is more likely to just get a suspended sentence which could even be a struggle as it will mean the rapper has to behave himself for a certain amount of time.
Even after being charged for assault recently, Dappy failed to show any sort of dignity or remorse as he tweeted: "The justice system is f*****!!!! U have perverts walking the Streets and u would rather convict people with no proper evidence!"
Should Dappy be allowed to resurrect his solo career?
Many people would argue that some time locked up would be exactly what Dappy needs, but would that mean more music? Time behind bars would give him an album worth of rubbish material that no one really wants to hear. Can you imagine a whole record about his time spent in jail and how the justice system is messed up?
However, Dappy may be able to take heart from Chris Brown's miraculous career resurrection after being found guilty of a violent attack on Rihanna. Brown has proved that once you reach a certain level of fame, there will always be fans by your side and you will always be able to get music out there.
Unfortunately for Dappy you only have to count the list of his wrong-doings to see that his horrid behaviour isn't just a one-off and he has never shown any sincere remorse for his actions. He has been accused of what Chris Brown has done and worse over the last five years. The list ranges from assault to drug use and generally offending thousands of people with what he has said or done. Is this really someone that we need in the charts influencing youngsters?
Does anyone want to see Dappy on stage again?
Also, it's not like we can say, 'he may be horrible, but he makes some amazing music.' Dappy has made some of the worst pop songs going in recent years with a series of controversial lyrics and was arguably the least talented member of N-dubz, which doesn't mean much we know. His talents sit awkwardly between being a singer and a rapper, but he can't really do either with any great amount of quality, so why should he be allowed another shot anyway?
We don't expect artists to behave like saints, but all we are asking is that Dappy behaves like a grown man and not a scumbag. He has two children that will look-up to him more than anyone and he should be the role model that they deserve.
