You'd think, what with being slap bang in the middle of festival season, that no one would find the time to release any new music, but this past week (in the seven days between Latitude and Kendal Calling) has been as busy as any other we can remember.

From retro French electro to pounding Canadian rock, bad-girl pop and British indie, check out the best songs of the week below...

Kavinsky ft. The Weeknd 'Odd Look'
French electro/house producer Kavinsky this week premiered an amazing new remix of his track 'Odd Look'. The new version of his album track brings together the producer's trademark layered 80's sounding dark electro sounds with the vocal talents of The Weeknd. Two of music's coolest men on one track? Go on then.

Birdy 'Wings'
It is hard to believe that 17-year-old british singer Birdy is on the verge of releasing her second album, especially when she brings such a mature rounded sound with her songs. 'Wings' showcases her vocal talents beautifully and is the first taste of 'Fire Within' which will be released on 23rd September.

Icona Pop 'All Night'
Fiesty duo Icona Pop bring more of their signature noisy, ballsy pop sound to 'All Night' making it a perfectly loud Friday night song. The song is the second single from the forthcoming album 'This is...' which will reportedly be experimenting with different styles and sounds. The album is expected to be released on 24th September.

Manic Street Preachers 'Show me the Wonder'
The Welsh three-piece return this year with a new album on the way and, by the sounds of it, a completely new sound. 'Show me the Wonder' is a surprisingly uplifting and breezy track from the veteran rockers, bringing some horns into the foreground giving it a chirpy and cheerful feel.

Cut Copy 'Let Me Show You'
Fans at Pitchfork Festival had the opportunity to get one of 120 personally engraved vinyls of Cut Copy's new track 'Let Me Show You'. A kind fan has uploaded a video of him checking out the track on his record player. The Australian four piece serve up another slice of synth laced 'inedietronica' with some heavy basslines throughout. The song has yet to be released on any other format so this will have to do for the moment, but the new album is set to be released in the Autumn.

Sam Smith 'Safe With Me'
British singer / songwriter Sam Smith is on the road to success, having had breakthrough appearances on Naughty Boy's 'La La La' and also on Disclosure's 'Latch'. New solo track 'Safe With Me' showcases his vocal talents and is surely a sign of good things to come for the young artist.

Arcade Fire 'Games Without Frontier' (preview)
With the news that production work is completed on the new album, and due for release 29 October, the Canadian collective are ramping up the anticipation for their latest LP. In the meantime they have released a 40 second snippet of a Peter Gabriel cover 'Games Without Frontier' that is sure to whet fans' appetites.

Sia 'Born Yesterday'
Australian singer / songwriter Sia has the best phonebook in the industry, having previously worked with Rhianna, Christina Aguillera, Britney Spears and many more. This week Sia released her new song 'Born Yesterday', her first solo release since 2010, and proves that she still has it, with a catchy melody and clean, fresh vocals throughout.

Babyshambles 'Farmer's Daughter'
Doherty and pals are set to release their new album Sequel to the Prequel on 2 September and will be the band's first LP since 2007. If 'Farmer's Daughter' is anything to go by it sounds as if the band has spent the time well refining and tightening their style. The song mingles slow country and western with the Band's signature raucous rock and roll sound.

Monsieur Adi - What's Going On ft. A*M*E
Monsieur Adi serves up a synthetic symphony with this new banger with vocal duties from A*M*E 'What's Going On' is an energetic and frantic track. The tinkling piano keys, soaring vocals and heavy string section fuse with excellent results, and it's sure to be a floorfiller this summer.
