More about: NOS Alive
Like us, you're still probably a trembling wreck from spending five days in the mud and mayhem of Glastonbury. However, the one thing that's keeping us from falling into the deepest depths of the Post-Glasto Blues is the knowledge that another truly great festival is just around the corner - but baked in glorious sunshine and by the beach. Music-lovers, make your way to Lisbon for the incredible Nos Alive 2016.
Boasting an incredible line-up that features the likes of Radiohead, Arcade Fire, The Chemical Brothers, Grimes, Hot Chip, The 1975, Years & Years, Wolf Alice, Father John Misty, Foals, Tame Impala, Biffy Clyro, Pixies, Soulwax and many more, it's by far one of the most impressive bills that not only Europe has to offer, but probably the entire summer season.
Don't believe us? Here's a handy playlist to the very best artists playing...
Playlist
Line-up and schedule
Look at it! It's an artifully constructed thing of beauty - hardly any major clashes and it every day holds a life-changing party from dusk until dawn
Radiohead
Not only was their recent headline show at Primavera an absolutely spell-binding experience, but their recent London Roundhouse shows were life-changing - and by far among the best gigs they've played in years. Their immaculate new album A Moon Shaped Pool only blooms into a life of its own on stage, so expect nothing less than an absolute mindgasm when Thom Yorke & co take to the Nos alive stage.
See them: Thursday 7 July, Palco Nos Stage, 10.45pm
Arcade Fire
This is an incredibly rare chance to see Arcade Fire. Their Reflektor tour was a live extravaganza of colour, life and sound, then the carnival stopped to work on new material. Get a taster of new material at one of only two European festival dates this summer.
See them: Saturday 9 July, Palco Nos Stage, 10.45pm
It's a beautiful setting
It looks like this: We know, right? Forget the concrete settings, rain, mud, trenchfoot and misery of most festivals and enjoy a true escape as one of the year's finest line-ups rocks you into the summer beneath a skyful of sun and idyllic surroundings.
The city of Lisbon
Who says the only sights and sounds of a festival have to be a muddy field and some drunkard pissing against your tent? That's just not true. Spend the days of Nos exploring Lisbon - a beach city of sun, sea, surf, history, culture, brilliant cuisine and one hell of a good time. You make as well make a holiday out of it, right?
The 1975
From pop outsiders to a global sensation, Matt Healy co have arguably proven to be THE dominant force in guitar music for 2016. Not only that, but their performance at Glastonbury last week was that worthy of headliners. The future belongs to them. What better place for a victory lap than the sunny climbs of Portugal?
See them: Friday 7 July, Palco Nos Stage, 6pm
The Chemical Brothers
This is what a Chemical Brothers live set looks like. Eye-watering stuff, right? It sounds amazing too, especially off the back of 2015's Born In The Echoes. Dance yourself into oblivion as they headline the opening night.
See them: Friday 7 July, Palco Nos Stage, 1am
M83
M83 are back, And their new stuff sounds amazing. Make no mistake, Lisbon is the perfect place to lose yourself in a nice spot of immaculate dream-pop.
See them: Saturday 9 July, Palco Nos Stage, 1am
Pixies
With your feet on the air and your head on the ground, enjoy the return of the pre-grunge rock godfathers. We'll meet you down the front to go mental for 'Debaser'. Fingers crossed for new material too.
See them: Friday 7 July, Parco Nos Stage, 10.45pm
Wolf Alice
Catch Wolf Alice while you still can. The My Love Is Cool guitar heroes have been tearing up the road for over two years on the gold-paved route to mainstream greatness - culminating in making their glorious Pyramid Stage debut at Glastonbury to prove one of the highlights of the weekend. We imagine this will be their last run for a while, so why not make the most of them while you can and nip over to Nos Alive?
See them: Thursday 7 July, Palco Heineken Stage, 10.15pm
Biffy Clyro
The blistering return of Biffy Clyro: Their seventh album Ellipsis is out in July, and the first tasters with 'Wolves Of Winter' and 'Animal Style' couldn't sound more promising. They told us 'they've been reborn' and are headlining Reading & Leeds, but over at Nos they're just another awesome part of an already incredible line-up. Catch the future of the Biff up close and personal over in Portugal.
See them: Thursday 7 July, Palco Nos Stage, 7.25pm
John Grant
You just need to see John Grant at all costs: His warped and inverted take on pop is so completely arresting on record - just pick yourself up a copy of Pale Green Ghosts or Grey Tickles, Black Pressure to find out. But live, his twisted disco is a beast of its own, as he recently showcased with a spell-binding show at The Royal Albert Hall. This is going to be something else.
See him: Thursday 7 July, Palco Heineken Stage, 8.45pm
Grimes
We'd travel to the ends of the Earth to see Grimes' life-changing Art Angels live experience. Nipping across the sea to Lisbon seems like a very small price to pay by comparison.
See her: Saturday 9 July, Palco Heineken Stage, 1.30am
Tame Impala
Tame Impala provide the ultimate mid-summer night's dream: Describing their current live experience, we hailed it as 'a psychedelic and kaleidoscopic journey into the soul'. No drugs required.
See them: Friday 8 July, Palco Nos Stage, 9pm
Foals
Experience why now is the time for Foals. It was always going to be, as Oxford's math-rock underdogs finally seize the day to become one of the biggest bands on the planet and a true, unstoppable force of nature. What Went Down is their crowning moment. They hit their all-time career high when they smashed Wembley Arena, before going even further to prove themselves as future Glastonbury headliners.Experience the feral madness for yourself at Nos.
See them: Friday 8 July, Palco Nos Stage, 7.30pm
Father John Misty
Father John Misty: Not only was I Love You Honeybear arguably the best album of 2015, but the liquid-limbed lounge lothario makes for one of the greatest ever live acts on the planet right now. Prepare to be bewitched.
See him: Friday 8 July, Parco Heineken Stage, 9.40pm
Hot Chip
And who doesn't love Hot Chip: What better way to spend your summer than dancing your face off the UK's greatest disco-rock nerds? Expect a tribute to the late, great Prince too...
See them: Friday 8 July, Palco Heinken Stage, 2.40am
Soulwax & 2ManyDJs
That's right, the brothers Dewaele are appearing under both of the guises - with the bone-crunching, game-changing dance rock of Soulwax as well as the mind-bending and genre-defying disco insanity of 2ManyDJs. Clear a space on the dancefloor for us.
See Soulwax: Thursday 7 July, Parco Heineken Stage, 11,45pm
See 2ManyDJs: Thursday 7 July, Parco Heineken Stage, 2.30am
Courtney Barnett
Our pal and favourite Aussie grunge-pop master has been an asbolute demon in playing pretty much anywhere and everywhere for the last three years. If you haven't seen her yet, then what's wrong with you? Now is your chance. If you have, well we'll see you down the front.
See her: Friday 8 July, Palco Heineken Stage, 7.20pm
Dr John Cooper Clarke
Fancy something a little different? Then step away from the music and enjoy the wit and wisdom of the Punk Poet, the Bard Of Salford, the man who earned his by supporting The Fall and The Buzzcocks before going on to inspire the likes of Alex Turner.
