After months of waiting, Flaming Lips fans can now breathe a sigh of relief as completion on the new album is in the not so distant future.

According to frontman Wayne Coyne the follow up to the massively successful ‘Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots’ is a much more organic album.

Speaking to Blender Magazine Coyne said: "We've moved away from robot sounds to sounds that are made by robots that come off organic. It's getting into a space-age jazz element." Before calling it "a sort of progressive Dixieland" that’s "hopefully not too far out of the realm of what's listenable" while maintaining the Lips traditional "element of psychiatric injury."

The band has been recording at the Tarbox Studios in New York State, close to the Canadian border, a place where The Vines and The Strokes have made magic music.

The working title for the new album is ‘At War with the Mystics’ and is scheduled for release in mid-2005.

The Lips have confirmed a live appearance at the US All Tomorrow's Parties festival in November alongside Lou Reed, The Shins, The Walkmen and Sufjan Stevens.
