Vancouver-based punks Dopey's Robe share 'Koward Kat' live at Pickathon Pumphouse. You can watch it on Gigwise below.
The footage of 'Koward Kat' is taken during Pickathon festival; specifically it's filmed at Pendarvis Farm in Oregon, USA, in a 6x9 foot shack called The Pumphouse.
We've shared numerous live clips from this shack over the past few months and this song - taken from Dopey's Robe LP Who And When Is Stephen Networks? - is on the heavier side. It's heady, amphetamine-addled traditional handmade rock 'n' roll - and sounds phenomenal.
Somewhat evocative of The Dead Kennedys vocally, the band layer on blister-inducing and adrenaline-pumping chords lathered in overdrive that follow the direction of hard-hitting drums. On top of this, the slide guitar adds a psychdelic tinge.
Evidently an unstoppable live force, we're left curious about their recorded output. Since releasing their first demos in 2016, they have added four more releases on Bandcamp. To us, that's indicative of a relentlessly creative band who aren't going to slow down any time soon.
DIY for the most part, they've recently acquired a booking agent, but there's not much industry infrastructure around them. Yet.
