Sound City will finally return to the streets of Liverpool this October with an array of more and lesser established names including, at the top of the bill, beabadoobee and The Lathums. Really though, Sound City is all about the discovery!

A festival that is teeming with brand new bands hand-picked as the next big thing, Sound City is one of the UK's foremost new music events. Here, we're counting down to the big weekend (1-3 October) with a spotlight on some of our personal favourite newbies on the line-up.

This week, we meet Social Contract:

Tell us about your music

We range from heavy to light: a mix of alternative rock, post-punk, post-rock and shoegaze. Some have gone as far as saying we’re very light metal in parts—aluminium rock. Somewhat of a sonic stew.

What's your relationship with Liverpool?

We have only played here once before, so we’re looking to create a stronger bond with the city that birthed arguably the best band of all time…Echo and The Bunnymen.

What’s the best show you ever played?

Simple Things Festival in Bristol along with others is probably our best to date. Great city and great people. (Not as good as Liverpool though obviously.)

Which musician would you bring back from the dead if you could?

Mark Hollis.

What do you have coming up?

Playing a handful of shows after getting back into the swing of things. Then we’re looking to get out of the city to write an album.

Sound City takes place in Liverpool on 1-3 October. Grab a ticket here.
