More about:

Echoing the titans of modern pop such as the modernity of Billie Eilish, the production of Frank Ocean and the poetic nostalgia of Lana Del Rey, 17-year-old Cathy Jain is ready to reach for the stars. Fresh from the release of her debut EP artificial on YALA! Records, Cathy is prepared for a summer of crowd-pleasing at festivals and working on new music. First, she must face the fraught obstacle that haunts many of her age: exams.

“I’ve always been serious about my education,” states Cathy, “but I’ve always had my passion for music. As much as I’ve wanted to do well in school, I feel I’ve always had my priorities leaning towards music. But with exams being so close, I’ve been very limited to playing shows and I’ve taken a step back.” Once Cathy’s pen reaches the final stroke and she shuts her last exam paper, though, the summer is hers to command.

Cathy’s debut EP artificial is a sun-tinged, blissful, alt-pop delight that proves the singer/songwriter as an exceptional talent at such a young age. “The release of this EP marked the first time I felt truly acknowledged as an artist. With the EP released on YALA!, I know that people are loving it and relating to it, that’s the best feeling as a songwriter.” With a new single and EP on the horizon for Cathy, that rewarding feeling is bound to continue.
