Thumpers are one of the most exciting new bands of 2014. Blending indie sounds with a pop mentality and just enough electronica to make things seriously danceable, the London band have made waves for themselves on both sides of the Atlantic, having released debut album Galore in America before they did on home soil.
The band have recently signed to the iconic Sub Pop record label, and have shared their experience of their first ever visit to the HQ offices in Seattle exclusively on Gigwise. The band also speak of their love for Nirvana and how they 'freaked the fuck out' when they signed to the same label.
See footage of their Sub Pop visit above, and read what the band had to say about their trip - and Nirvana, below.
"Around the time when Thumpers were in our first bands together at school, the Sub Pop Records logo was pretty much all we knew about any kind of music industry. It was the mysterious part of the Nevermind' artwork that explained how Nirvana - and any other band - got to our older siblings’ record collections and passed down to us. Our curiosity about Sub Pop back then and our first desire to be in a band ourselves was one and the same.
And then last year we signed to Sub Pop ourselves and freaked the fuck out.
This year, after playing at SXSW, we headed on a tour west that ended in Seattle where we went to visit their offices, see where all the people we email about Arrested Development (the TV show and the band) work, and generally stare at all the cool shit they have on the walls there. And meet Mark from Mudhoney (he runs their record warehouse). Oh man."
Galore is released on 19 May 2014 in the UK.
