- More Lily Allen
Born Lily Rose Allen on May 2 1985 in Hammersmith London, Lily Allen first made a name for herself whilst living in Ibiza on her own at the age of 15, making a living by working in a record store and selling ecstasy to Club goers. Having met A&R man George Lamb who in turn introduced her to music producers Future Cut, Allen’s lyrics inspired the producers to write backing tracks for her work, thus kick-starting her musical career.
After spending a short time under the Warners label, Allen was eventually signed to Regal records an offshoot of Parlophone/EMI. Allen took a DIY approach to publicity, using her webpage on Myspace to promote her music, constantly uploading new material for her growing fan base. This led to single ‘LDN’ being released as a limited edition 7” on April 24 of 2006, way ahead of any talks to release a debut album and due to support from BBC’s Radio 1the single sold out.
Eventually Allen’s debut LP was released in July of 2006, first as a limited edition 12” Vinyl on July 3 and then a full CD release on July 17.
