The brainchild of long-time Glastonbury booker Martin Elbourne, M For Montreal began in 2006 as a showcase of acts from Quebec for the music industry of Northern Europe. Its aim is to introduce 'export ready' acts to music festival buyers, journalists and other music business professionals and was supported by he Quebec Government Office in London.
In its first year it helped export the likes of The Besnard Lakes and The Lovely Feathers to wider acclaim in the UK and in 2007 it grew further with sixteen acts, including The Stills and We Are Wolves, playing over the two days of the event.
In 2008 M For Montreal will take place over three days for the first time with the line up due to be announced shortly.
