Noteworthy newcomers reveal best tune of their career so far

Slovenian quintet Lynch have come a long, long way in the span of just three years. The group’s 2015 recordings—punky blasts of energy and vitriol—were great, but certainly felt unfinished, a few steps away from feeling entirely assured. That’s no longer an issue, as proven by the band’s latest release.

The neck snapping ‘Tin Maxon vs Time’ finds Lynch embracing their love of noise rock as heard through the tortured throats and calloused hands of groups like The Jesus Lizard and Unsane. Gilding the edges of Lynch’s take on that sound is their pop sensibilities, dimmed but unbowed. And serving as the counterbalance to the rest of this song’s storming spirit and singer/guitarist Jan Ovnik’s savage bark.

According to their Bandcamp page, the gents in Lynch are using this track to “symbolically mark the end and pinnacle of the pop form songs...and paves the way for a new single release due early 2019.” If it’s anything like the brutalist sounds they’re dabbling in on ‘Tin Maxon,’ we’re in for a hell of a treat in the new year.

B-side 'Horseabout' is also streaming in the link below. Give them both a whirl.

Elsewhere, read our reviewi of Lynch live in Estonia. Gigwise first discovered Lynch at KUKU Club in Tallinn Music Week and they were one of the standout acts. Louder Than War, Drowned In Sound were also in the crowd living their best life.

This prompted us to keep tabs on them and without a UK press representation thus far, there's only so far this song can travel in the immediate weeks. If you like what you hear, share this song widely. They're an alternative band with a hell of a lot of potential.
