More about: Neil Young
The earliest known footage of Young will feature on the film
Neil Young has confirmed details of a new live album alongside a concert film, Young Shakespeare. The release contains as-yet unreleased footage and recordings of a 1971 show in Stratford, Connecticut that Young played shortly after his seminal album After the Gold Rush came out; these are the earliest known live performance recordings of the artist to currently exist.

The original concert was recorded for transmission on German TV, but this is the first time the recordings will be made publicly available. As well as including hits such as 'Ohio', 'Down by the River' and 'Sugar Mountain', we can hear early outings from tracks that Young would include on his next album, Harvest, including 'Old Man', 'The Needle and the Damage Done' and 'Heart of Gold'.
Young has said of the release: "Young Shakespeare is a very special event. To my fans, I say this is the best ever… one of the most pure-sounding acoustic performances we have in the Archive.” Young Shakespeare will be released on March 26th and is available to pre-order now on multiple formats, including vinyl, CD, a standalone DVD of the concert film and a Deluxe Box Set containing all three.
