David Bowie's longtime friend, collaborator and producer Tony Visconti has praised the BRIT Awards tribute to The Thin White Duke - led by Lorde, Gary Oldman and Annie Lennox.
Visconti has worked with Bowie throughout his celebrated career, since 1969's Space Oddity - notably producing the Berlin trilogy as well as his final albums, The Next Day and Blackstar.
Last night, after emotional speeches from Oldman and Lennox, 'Royals' sensation Lorde then took to the stage with Bowie's old band for a beautiful rendition of 'Life On Mars'. Now, joining Bowie's son in his approval, Visconti has spoken out in praise of the tribute.
"A first class, respectful, sensitive, egoless tribute to dear David," he wrote on Facebook. "Thank you Gail Ann Dorsey, Gerry Leonard, Mike Garson, Sterling Campell, Catherine Russel and Earl Slick. David loved you and I love you. Lorde, you rocked it! And thanks to The Brits. As the UK is my other 'home' I have to say you did the right thing.
He added: "Annie Lennox, love you. Gary Oldman, love you, and thank you for letting me play with your iPhone 6 when you came to listen to Blackstar in the making. You and David were cracking me up! What great friends you were."

After slamming Lady Gaga's Grammys tribute as 'mentally confused', Bowie's son and acclaimed film director Duncan Jones said that Lorde's tribute was 'just beautiful'.
Visconti meanwhile, has said that not only was Blackstar Bowie's 'parting gift' to the world, but that he'd already started work on another album shortly before his death.
