Fleetwood Mac icon Stevie Nicks has opened up about her relationshup with the late, great Prince.
On Tuesday night, Stevie Nicks astounded Broadway audience members viewing the stage adaption of Jack Black’s classic film, School of Rock.
The Fleetwood Mac vocalist performed her hit ‘Rhiannon’ with the young musicians at The Winter Garden Theatre in New York. Commenting on her surprise performance, Nicks praises the performers "I have Fleetwood Mac, and then I have my solo band that I've been playing with since 1980, and now I have one more fantastic band to add to my roster, so I'm very happy."
“To be in the presence of these kids that are so amazing that honestly sometimes I close my eyes and I’m not sure that it’s not Fleetwood Mac,” Nicks followed, with nothing but admiration for the child stars.
Speaking backstage, Nicks went on to recall the moment she formed an “amazing relationship” with late singer Prince after claiming she ripped off one of his songs.
The singer-songwriter claimed her hit 80s solo track ‘Stand Back’ came to formation only after hearing Prince’s ‘Little Red Corvette’ after hearing it as she was on a drive. She recalls that even though she “didn't have to call and tell him that I kind of ripped off his song” that she chose to because she was “honest.”
After calling the musical legend, Nicks "asked him if he would come over to Sunset Sound in Los Angeles. Never in a million years expecting that he would say yes or that he was even in Los Angeles, and he was there in like 20 minutes."
Following their meeting, Nicks claimed that “it turned into a really amazing relationship.”
Commenting on Prince’s recent death last week, the singer stated, “is my heart broken? Absolutely."
