John Newman has revealed that he’s battling a second brain tumour after doctors discovered new cancerous cells.

The singer, who released his second album, Revolve, last year, had an operation to remove a tumour in his brain back in 2012.

After The Sun and other publications reported this week that the tumour had returned, Newman released a statement on Twitter confirming the news.

“This was going to come out at some point and it’s probably best it’s out in the open now,” he wrote. “I have been monitored constantly since the first time I had the tumour removed.”

“There was always a chance that it could return and it is unfortunate but it is something I am prepared to get through when the time is right, some point next year.” He continued, “The medical staff have been absolutely amazing and I know I am in the best of hands. Nothing will ever stop me from doing the job I love so much, nothing will ever stop me from making music.

“People shouldn't worry about me, the prognosis is good and there are so many people in far more serious situations.”

He concluded, “I just hope this in some way helps raise awareness for those people and encourages people to be tested and treated as early as possible. I am one of the lucky ones!”

"Nothing will ever stop me making music"

Newman recently unveiled his Calvin Harris collaboration, ‘Ole’, the video for which is set to be released on Friday.
