Cosmo Pyke relased his first proper studio recording with 'Social Sites' at the end of last month and it's been on heavy rotation at Gigwise.
The Peckham born and raised teen has been cutting his teeth on South London's small venue circuit - especailly The Windmill in Brixton. He's also proved he can rock some of the country's biggest stages after opening for Rat Boy on tour.
His sound suits the nocturnal rhythm of South London and he tells Gigwise he typically writes a new song late at night after getting back from a party and thinks of the lyrics when he rides his bike home. The best songs do come the easiest and it seems if he has a knack of writing off the cuff like that then he's on to something. 'Social Sites' is a tale of heartbreak ("this loves sweet like tooth decay") but the sonics contrast with the narrative giving a fuzzy warmth and sense of hope.
Pyke also has a lo-fi recording of his song 'Cursers Lament' out and for a bedroom demo to have racked up nearly 25K plays on Soundcloud is an impressive indication of how things are going to go once the proper version is out on his forthcoming EP of the same name.
