NYC icons Blondie will release a new record Pollinator on 5 May, which will feature collaborations from the likes of Johnny Marr and Sia.

Speaking in this months MOJO Magazine, the 'Heart Of Glass' band give the first taste of new material - the follow-up to 2014's Ghosts Of Download.

With the band working more collaboratively with other artists on this project, guitarist Chris Stein explains to MOJO: "We thought to ask people because there's so much good music swirling about" rather than it being a result of running thin on ideas.

"We sorted the contributors ourselves, or someone would send us a bunch of songs and we'd pick one" he continued.

The band's eleventh studio album will feature songs written by TV On The Radio's David Sitek, Johnny Marr, Sia, Charli XCX, Dev Hynes and more - but will only include two collaborations between Blondie founding members Debbie Harry and Chris Stein.

Despite heavy use of outside input, Stein assures fans "The whole thing is us" and says "they're all songs we believe in".

Pollinator was recorded at The Magic Shop in the band's hometown of New York City - the same studio David Bowie recorded his final two albums.

Meanwhile, it has been announced that Blondie will support Phil Collins at his Aviva Stadium show in Dublin this June, and will play Australian dates with Cyndi Lauper.

*We reported on 24 January that the release would be in March since the Mojo report indicated. It has since been officially fonfirmed for 5 May.
