The Horrors frontman Faris Badwan has lent his vocals to a new Hercules & Love Affair track 'Controller'. Stream the song below.
Being more familiar to The Horrors' sweeping psychedelic soundscapes, rich with effected guitar work and reverb, Badwan has entered a much slicker, dance-orientated territory on the first taste of Hercules' long-awaited new record.
Speaking of the collaboration fusing dark and light, frontman Andy Butler said: “I wanted a vocalist who flirted with the darkness” he explains,“someone who had a touch of an Ian Astbury or Andrew Eldritch about them, or even of Ian Curtis.”
"I agreed to work with Andy on the condition that he would take me on a tour of Ghent's S&M clubs." Badwan said. "Latex or no latex he was fun to write with - it's different to stuff I've done before and I really enjoyed his way of working.. He has a great ear for melody. It was a good deal."
Butler announced the track via Twitter yesterday, writing "“Very happy to finally share new music. Controller feats wonderful Faris. Out 9/2. Tell me what U think!”
Further details of the upcoming new record have yet to be announced. The first release will be the first since 2014's The Feast Of The Broken Heart.
Meanwhile, The Horrors are currently in the studio working on new music, and Badwan last year released a record with his collaborative project Cat's Eyes.
