Canadian DJ Kid Koala is an ambient music wizard who has collaborated with the beautiful Icelandic singer Emilíana Torrini on his latest track ‘Adrift’. Listen to it first on Gigwise below.
The song title couldn’t be a better fit as to how the track makes you feel. Gentle, eerie, bewitching, sad – it’s orchestrated in a way that’ll make your mind drift away into whatever world is being drawn by Koala.
The cut is lifted the Montreal-based composers first non-sampled album, Music To Draw To: Satellite, and the space theme seeps through its core with Koala declaring that the record tells the story of a couple separated by a one-way mission to Mars.
The celestial atmosphere is conjured using an array of synthesizers, keys, guitars, basses, strings, turntables, noisemakers, and inventive recording techniques and Emilíana Torrini makes a solid appearance, featuring on seven spell-binding songs.
