Rising French band Her’s contemporary take on soul has been winning hearts this side of the Channel recently. This live video of them playing at Moth Club in Hackney shows the love that’s being spread their way, check it out below.
The beautifully crafted visual to a playful live version of their song ‘Queens’ - taken from their forthcoming second EP (Her Tape#2) - sees the band start out with an accapella intro before the glitter roofed hipster haunt fills up and the band arrive on stage to play with the full band. The crowd seem gleeful in reaction to them, knowing that they’ve stumbled into an intimate gig of extraordinary quality.
Of playing in London, co-frontman Victor told Gigwise: "We really connect with the British crowd with our lyrics, sometime more so than we do with our French audience. Certain metaphors don't get the same reaction here as they do there."
Her’s latest EP is thematically tied into their first release: it's all about women, love, relationships and feminism. The pair examines maternal love between a mother and child and physical love between partners.
Her Tape #1 spawned the excellent singles, 'Quite Like' and 'Five Minutes'. The sound meticulously crafted to take elements of Al Green, the falsetto funk of Jungle, James Blake. They first grabbed our attention at Trans Musicales festival 2016 as the catchiness of their music made them stand out on the line-up. Do take the chance to see them in an intimate venue whilst you can.
