Well there you go, the rumours were true. We’re backstage at the John Peel stage at Glastonbury 2017, where The Killers have just made a stunning surprise appearance. Check out photos and setlist below.

The unannounced slot had tongues wagging all weekend and was bound to be a biggie - clashing with disco legends Chic over on the Pyramid and LA rockers Haim across the site on the Other Stage.

Brandon Flowers and co hadn't set foot on Worthy Farm since their headline performance back in 2007 - and what a way to celebrate the ten-year anniversary. Michael and Emily Eavis were at the side of stage, along with thousands of ecstatic fans.

As the clock turned 17:30 a stage crew member took to the stage to unveil a lit-up ‘K’ keyboard stand, before the band appeared to deafening applause as they launched into 2006 anthem ‘When You Were Young’.

“They say you play the John Peel stage twice in your career,” said a glowing Brandon Flowers. “Once on the way up, and once on the way down - it’s good to be back.”

The band fired through an all-killer-no-filler career-spanning set. They played here for the first time on the John Peel Stage in 2004, and today was just as concise and inspiring as their debut; full of energy, youthful and euphoric - with absolutely no room for anything but direct hits.

Tracks included ‘Somebody Told Me’, ‘Read My Mind’, the rarely played ‘Glamorous Indie Rock ’N’ Roll’ and stomping new track ‘The Man’.

The band closed the show with indie classic 'Mr Brightside', which saw a fan blast a flare up towards the roof of the iconic tent. The Killers set the place alight all by themselves though, and are no doubt one of the greatest bands of the 21st Century.

It's secret sets like the one we just witnessed that set Glastonbury apart from the rest, and it will surely go down in history as one of the many great surprise moments. An unforgettable show.

When You Were Young
