The Wysing Arts Centre in Cambridge has announced the details of its left-field music festival Opaque Poetics, the 8th festival to take place there.

The festival is curated by the artist, DJ and producer Nkisi, aka Melika Ngombe Kolongo, who will also be performing at the event, which takes place on September 2 Designed to highlight ‘some of the most influential and exciting international artists, musicians and producers of their generation’, the curation makes a point of lending its artists the space to create immersive, intense soundscapes across twelve hours of live performance.

Taking in genres like ambient, techno, industrial and soul, the line-up boasts the likes of Nidia, Patten, Abyss X, Felix Lee, and Inga Copeland’s Lolina performing on the Gallery Stage, while Kamixlo, Angel-Ho and curator Nkisi will play the Amphis Stage.

Meanwhile, Clubcouture have commissioned a number of artists to respond to the concept of 'ritournelle' - a rhythmic pattern in a field of chaos – which will see their stage of the festival transformed into “an immersive ‘wild forest’ of hidden and visible stimuli.”

Donna Lynas, Wysing’s Director and curator of previous Wysing festivals said: “This is our eighth music festival at Wysing and only the second to be conceptualised and curated by an invited contributor. The relationship with Nkisi came about through her playing at Wysing in September last year and I am thrilled to be working with her again on the festival. She has pulled together a stunning line-up; one of great clarity and precision.”

Tickets for the festival are available now, with prices beginning at £25. For the full line-up details and tickets, click here.
