When you think of rock star merchandise, a few obvious things spring to mind. Band t-shirts, posters, a hoodie with the band’s tour dates on perhaps. Butcher’s wrap – the stuff the butcher wraps your sausages in – probably doesn’t, being arguably the least rock n roll sounding thing ever.

Yet American rockers Queens of the Stone Age have gone and done just that, getting their very own Butcher’s Wrap to coincide with the release of their new album, Villains.

Revealed on the band’s Instagram account, QOTSA have teamed up with butcher’s shops across America encouraging people to “support your local butcher” and presumably, their latest album.

They’re not the first band to release unusual merchandise. Who can forget Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ condoms or the time Eminem sold single bricks from his childhood home at $300 a time?

Adorned with album inspired artwork, the wrap can be bought in a number of stores in the US. Mercifully, this trend has yet to take flight with bands in the UK.
