The metal quartet vent their fury at the train company with plenty of swearing

Pop metal figureheads The Darkness have unleashed the video for ‘Southern Trains’ – a new song that sticks it the beleagured and much criticised train company. And boy, they’re not backwards about going forwards with some fruity language and choice swearing.

Over a series of superfast and gnarly riffs, frontman Justin Hawkins let rip with, “Major delays, cancellations, tedious conversations / Trying to eat your dinner with an arse in your face, It's a disgrace… / Heaving carriages of indignation / Grown men weeping in pure frustration / Totally packed and always late.”

And as for the video itself, Justin Hawkins and guitarist brother Dan have their images altered via Snapchat videos while bassist Frankie Poullain and drummer Rufus Tiger Talyor make minor appearances.

So what’s brought on this howl of utter disgust and righteous indignation?

“Dan and I had to endure the Southern Trains ‘services’ during the making of new album, Pinewood Smile,” said Justin. “The only difference between a normal day on Southern Trains and a day when they're all on strike, is that on strike day the ArseClownery is deliberate. They are utterly incapable of running a reliable service. Fact. The rest of the world is laughing at us. I hope this song goes some way towards facilitating change.”

The Darkness’ new album, Pinewood Smile, is released on October 6. The band then embark on a 17-date tour in November and December that stops at London, Southampton and Manchester among others.
