Country-psych band The Hanging Stars have shared their brand new single, ‘Honeywater’, and announced details of the single’s launch party. The record is out in October 27 and the gig takes place at Servant Jazz Quarters in London on November 22.

We’re pretty excited about this one and no mistake. The Hanging Stars have been making waves on this radar since the release of their magnificently dreamy debut album, Over The Silvery Lake, in 2015. Since then, the quintet have delivered a number of memorable gigs including appearances the Liverpool International Festival Of Psychedelia and The Stow Festival in London.

‘Honeywater’ certainly makes a convincing claim for being one of The Hanging Stars’ best tracks yet. This is about as far away from the clichéd image of county music as one could imagine as it evokes hazy vistas, Technicolor swirls and lysergic emanations as they soundtrack a tale of unrequited love. Moreover, given The Hanging Stars are on more than intimate terms with the concept of melody and songwriting, ‘Honeywater’ is going to be taking up residency in your ears for some time to come.

The Hanging Stars’ second album, Songs From Somewhere Else, is scheduled for release early in 2018. Though no release date has been confirmed as yet, rest assured that you’ll hear just as soon as we do.

The band is made up of songwriter, singer and guitarist Richard Olson (The See See, Eighteenth Day of May), Sam Ferman on bass, Paulie Cobra on drums, Patrick Ralla (The Alan Tyler Show) on banjo, guitar, keyboards and assorted instruments, with pedal steel courtesy of Joe Harvey White.

In the meantime, we’ll see you at Servant Jazz Quarters on November 22.
