More about:

‘Walk This Way’ hitmakers Aerosmith have been forced to cancel the remaining four dates of their South American tour due to “unexpected medical issues” surrounding frontman Steven Tyler. Shows in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Mexico have been shelved.

A statement on the band’s Facebook page reads: “Unfortunately, due to unexpected medical issues, lead singer Steven Tyler is seeking immediate care and has been advised by his doctors that he cannot travel or perform at this time. Therefore, the last four shows of the South American tour will be cancelled.”

Tyler has extended his apologies to his fans. He said: “I flew back to the US on doctor's orders last night after the show in Sao Paulo.

“I am not in a life-threatening condition, but I need to deal with this right away and get some rest and medical care immediately in order to sustain and maintain my future performances.

“I promise I'll be back. Unfortunately, health does not wait and it's something even I can't schedule around our shows. As they say, ‘We humans make plans, and God laughs.’ I love you all and will be back with you soon. Thank you all for your understanding and support.

Tyler is expected to make a full recovery.

Since this report was first published, it was reported to The Boston Herald (on 28 Sept) by a source that Tyler suffered a seizure.

The affected dates are:

SEPTEMBER

27 - Curitiba, Brazil
30 – Santiago, Chile

OCTOBER

03 – Rosario, Argentina

07 – Monterrey, Mexico

Gigwise wish Tyler well. Our very own editor, Cai Trefor caught the band in top flight at the Rock In Rio festival only last week.

He was so blown away by what he’d witnessed that he was moved to write: “Tyler's vocals right now sound as good as they did in the early days – and, for me, it’s a toss between him, Robert Plant and Axl Rose as to who is the best classic rock vocalist of all time.

“But in terms of whose pipes are in the best condition today? It's got to be Tyler. He, and the rest of the band, don’t seem frayed, fatigued - it's actually exceeds expectations ten fold.”
