Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett yesterday shared a new video for ‘Continental Breakfast’, an cheerful slice of Americana from their new collaborative LP ‘Lotta Sea Lice’.

In the intimate clip, shot on 16mm and directed by Melbourne-native Danny Cohen (who has previously directed videos for King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard) we see the two singers enjoying downtime with family and friends in their respective hometowns between touring and recording.

The song is a perfect marriage of their deadpan storytelling styles, matching Barnett’s snappy couplets with Kurt Vile’s bluesy meanderings. Vile wrote the song 'Continental Breakfast’ reflecting on the pair’s unlikely long-distance friendship while on holiday with his family in Hawaii.

In the video the rockstars take tea with grandmas, dance with babies and help schoolkids with their instrument practice on trumpet, harp and piano. Barnett can be seen, adorably, pecking longterm partner and fellow singer-songwriter Jen Cloher on the cheek.

Courtney Barnett, from Sydney, released debut album, 'Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit' in 2015 to rapturous critical acclaim. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2015 she won four awards from eight nominations. She was nominated for Best New Artist at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards and for International Female Solo Artist at the 2016 Brit Awards.

Kurt Vile from Philadelphia is best known for touring with his backing band The Violators, and for his work as lead guitarist with The War On Drugs. His last release was 2015’s B’lieve I’m Going Down.

Lotta Sea Lice is available from October 13 via Matador and Marathon Artists. It features the formerly released track 'Over Anything.' Kurt and Courtney will embark on a tour promoting Lotta Sea Lice this autumn across the US and Canada.
