Orlando Weeks has announced that he will be playing a one-off show at London’s Union Chapel on 12 December. The singer will be bringing his solo project ‘The Gritterman’ to life even further with a one-off performance. He will also be joined by actor and comedian Paul Whitehouse who will be lending his narration skills to the venture again.
Weeks’ book ‘The Gritterman’ was published in September, alongside a companion album, and combines three of his creative skills, storytelling, illustration and music, in a supreme partnership. The artist has perfected the skill of marrying reflective melancholia with warm and uplifting undertones in the story, so to see the project developed further at Union Chapel with a full band and choir as we enter into the seasonal bliss of the festive period is undoubtedly going to be a very special occasion.
The former frontman’s gentle approach to delivering ‘The Gritterman’ makes for very contemplative consumption as the singer addresses grief on ‘Seasonal Hero’, “the bone that stays broken, the cut that won’t heal” yet juxtaposes it with the elation of doing something you love on ‘Nothing I Would Change’, “too short our time together but better to have loved and lost, if I was a young man and could have my time again, there’s nothing I would change at all.”
