Tidal - the streaming service that was launched amid a high-profile brouhaha featuring Jay-Z, Madonna, Rihanna and two blokes in helmets who may or may not have been Daft Punk among many others – have expanded their student discount to 23 counties in Europe, Australia and South America.

Having launched in the United States, the student discount offer is now also available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Which is nice.

So what’s up for grabs? At the premium tier, students will have exclusive access to high-profile music, videos, original video series, podcasts, livestreams, tickets, merchandise and live experiences fans cannot find anywhere else. Blimey!

The HiFi tier has the added benefit of high-fidelity, CD sound quality audio streaming, as well as ‘Master’ quality recordings, enabled by MQA (Master Quality Authenticated). Nicer still!

Premium student subscription stands at £4.99 and the HiFi student subscription stands at £9.99 and students can sign up for it here.

Whether that’ll include any future Kanye West releases still remains to be seen. As previously reported on Gigwise, West is in dispute with Tidal founder Jay-Z over alleged unpaid royalties. It’ll be interesting to see how that beef pans out.
