It’s not that Odeon Beat Club’s fifth single ‘Last .php’ is objectionable, nor is it offensively crap – it’s just that it doesn’t have any noticeable emotional effect whatsoever. The track washes over the ears like a fluffy cloud across the sun: it doesn’t ruin your day, but nor does it make it any better. In fact, it’s forgotten about as soon as it has occurred – exactly like ‘Last .php’. B side ‘Freeze & Thaw’ starts similarly slowly and doesn’t really appear to be heading anywhere. Even less inventive than the A side, it seems to forget what the point of its existence is and just gives up trying to remember after 3 and a bit minutes. Inoffensive but ultimately uninspiring.
