Kate Walsh likes life to be as simple as possible. She doesn’t own a walkman, let alone an iPod, and she hasn’t managed to plug her TV in since July last year. It’s a minimalist lifestyle that resonates throughout her music as well. ‘Your Song,’ is a deeply personal message to a boyfriend about laying it all on the line. The touching lyric, “I knew I was wrong to jump straight on / into this picture, so pretty, but he is so pretty to me,” is pushed along by an earthy acoustic symphony, that’s reminiscent of singer/songwriter Jess Klein. Walsh’s debut single is certainly not the music you’d expect from your average Essex-girl, but then again, ‘Your Song,’ proves that there’s nothing average about this 23-year old.
