Bobby Gillespie says he would happy to join The Jesus And Mary Chain reunion if the band asked him.

The Primal Scream front man, who played drums in the band and left in 1985, says the Reid brothers are yet to ask him however.

They recently announced plans to reform after confirming an appearance at this year’s Coachella Festival.

Gillespie told 6 Music: “If they asked me I would play, I haven’t played with them since 1985 you know. It’s a long time ago, the last time I saw them play was 98 and then they split up 3 days later.”

He went on to say that he was delighted by the news of the bands resurrection and would love to see them play the same bill with Primal Scream at Coachella.

He added about his thoughts on the reunion: “Fantastic, I love them, great friends, heroes of mine and I am so pleased for them.”

“They haven’t asked us (Coachella organisers) – but maybe it would be good if Primal Scream were playing and The Jesus and Mary Chain were playing on the same bill, that would be great!”

The Jesus And Mary Chain are also set to play the Summercase Music Festival in Barcelona and Madrid.
