What does Heavy Metal have in common with children’s story-time books? Absolutely everything as far as Comanechi are concerned. Oh yes that ol’ familiar partnership - kids stories and thrash metal – ahem, make a gloriously messed up yet somehow beautiful partnership here with London based Comanechi, as a drum kit, distorted guitars and a J-Pop voice go so well together you’ll think your bubble tea has been spiked. Listen along to vocalist and drummer Akiko Matsuura’s heartbreaking tale of her poor kidnapped cat whilst Simon Petrovich bludgeons you around the head with some hard Slayer–esque riffs, and feel the burn of love taken away “by a man who makes drum skins”. Impossibly catchy to the point that you’ll end up scratching your head wondering why the hell you actually like it, as they make music to make vicious yet gentle serial killers out of you. Just don’t let your infants near it!
