The Rolling Stones have denied reports they are to play Wembley Stadium this summer.

It had been claimed that the aged rockers were to headline the Live Earth Show in July to promote awareness of climate change.

However, the band would have had to cancel a gig in Rome on the upcoming European leg of their ‘A Bigger Bang’ tour to play the date, and a spokesperson for the band succinctly says, “Not happening."

The Stones are however playing in the UK at the Isle Of Wight Festival in June and have just announced a second date at London's O2 Arena in August.
