Hey, you there! Do you like Doves? Of course you do! Now, do you want to listen to another band that sounds a bit like Doves, except with a singer who sounds like he’s constantly in pain? No? Ah, that could be a problem for this lot, then. I can’t fault the musicianship on display here one little bit, as the rest of the band are very good at what they do. However, the whole aim of space-rock is to be uplifting and euphoric, something that is difficult to achieve with overly-strained vocals such as these. Something just doesn’t mesh properly and the result is quite jarring. Fortunately, the b-side is a bit better, but ultimately it all just sounds a bit dated. Spacemen 3 split up 15 years ago, though you wouldn’t know it from listening to this.
