Popworld Pulp magazine has been axed after just one edition.
The magazine is blaming disastrous sales for the collapse – of the 130,000 copies printed, just 9,000 were sold.
The magazine was linked to Channel 4’s Popworld show and featured the Klaxons on the front page of its virgin edition.
Darren Styles from the Brooklands Group publishers said: "The magazine has bombed in a way nobody connected with it could ever have envisaged.
"Every piece of research we did, every dummy we created and the concept in all its forms was fantastically received from first to last.
"The industry wanted it, the news trade wanted it, the market was there according to every group we asked - but come the acid test the readers were absent."
The publishers had hoped to shift around 60,000 copies of the magazine a week, which sell for £1.49 each.
- hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
hahahahahahahahaAAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAAAAAA!! Saw it in the shops the otherday and was enraged by some other sub-NME balls - their mistake was surely connected to klaxons being on the cover - like you haven\'t read articles about them!
- People have seen that Simpsons episode where the market researched to fuck toys end up being psychotic little capitalist stormtroopers. Anything purely demographic driven without a hint of independence or passion will end up tryng to kill you. I mean metaphorically. So you’re dead.
- Ouch. The magazine industry is a bitch anyway - 9 out of 10 fold within a year of their first issue. But after a week? 130k for the first issue? doesn’t NME only sell 70,000 p/w? And £1.40 for a launch issue? When are people going to realise that people interested in music are skint? And whats with another industry-based music glossy? - Like we really need another one. Mugs.
- I own both copies of Pulp. As a reward I think I should get a date with Alexa Chung. It’s the least I deserve.
- Look at that gormless, beardy twat on the right... Would you stick him on the cover of your opening issue? You might as well have just set the printing factory alight and had done. Fools.
