Serbia’s Marija Serifovic won the Eurovision Song Contest last night, with the UK’s entry limping in second last place.
Serifovic’s “big ballad” ‘Molitva’ beat off competition from pre-show favourite Ukrainian drag queen Verka Serduchka to scoop top spot in Helsinki.
However, the only good thing we can say about Scooch’s ‘Flying The Flag (For You)’ – which Entertainmentwise stands by regardless – is that it avoided the ignomony of ‘nul points’, with votes from Malta and Ireland offering a poor impression of the regional nepotism so evidenced by the Eastern European countries.
Ireland were last.
