Kurt Cobain, Joe Strummer, Sid Vicious and Joey Ramone have been unveiled as the stars of a new Dr Martens advertising campaign.
The posters – which have been created by advertiser’s Saatchi & Saatchi – feature the four dead rock stars modelling the infamous boot dressed as angels.
Speaking about the campaign writer Andrew Petch said:"We wanted to communicate that Dr Martens boots are 'made to last' and we discovered that these idolised musicians wore them."
He continued: "Showing them still wearing their Docs in heaven dramatised the boots' durability perfectly. And, as images, they feel very iconic."
According to The Daily Swan, due to publishing implications the photos have only been cleared for use in the UK.
- i wish they would leave sid alone, he didnt even wear doc’s he wore converse most the time and generic no name boots the rest that he picked up. not docs.
dont you think sid has been milked enough without his consent over the years. The industry has made him an unwilling sellout.
- clearly nothing is sacred
- The last 2 pairs of DMs I had fell to bits within a year anyway.
- I Very much Doubt that someone Like Kurt Cobain would have ever agreed to doing this kind of thing, as he hated the publicity this kid of shit would have brought!!!
- its what they would have wanted
