Barbara Streisand has cancelled a gig in Rome next month – the same show that caused an outcry from its ‘overpriced’ tickets.
As previously reported, Italian consumer groups branded the ticket prices for the Stadio Flamino show on June 15 as “absurd and shameful”. Prices ranged from €150 to €900 (approx £600).
Now, concert promoters have revealed that the show has been axed over unforeseen delays. They denied that the cancellation had anything to do with the ticket pricing protest.
Tour promoter Michael Cohl said: “We met with unexpected production delays. We deeply apologise to fans in Rome.”
- The gig was pulled because no one bought any tickets. I’ve now got no job as i was main press person trying to drum up interest in these bargain tickets! What went wrong?
- Also the concert in Nice (France) scheduled on July 10 has been cancelled.
Europe does not bring flowers to Barbra anymore....
- Yers are all tight gets!!
It woz proper cheap lad!
I can easily afford it!
Haven’t I got a bug schnoz!
- Whatever the reason for the cancellation in Rome/Nice has not changed the fact that Streisand sold out her first two nights in London instantly and a third night is almost entirely sold out as well. Just today she added two more shows, one in Manchester and one in Berlin. All of the shows now scheduled are expected to sell out. The same issue about ticket prices emerged here in the U.S. and only one date was cancelled, in Detroit, to which Barbra merely added another sold-out show in Canada.
- There’s no excuse for greed!
