Following a successful run of dates during this springtime’s European comeback tour, The Streets have announced a string of shows for early 2019, with tickets going on sale this coming Friday (4 May).

The Brummie wordsmith Mike Skinner is back on everyone’s radar following a seven-year near hiatus, and as well as the recent comeback shows he released a brace of new tracks over Christmas last year – ‘Burn Bridges’ and ‘Sometimes I Hate My Friends More Than My Enemies’.

Then, back in March, he also put out brash new single ‘Boys Will Be Boys’ featuring fellow geezerish MC-type Jaykae.

The dates will run from mid-January to early February 2019, kicking off in Birmingham and rounding off at the scene of many a Streets triumph, London’s Brixton Academy.

Fans will want to look lively, as last time Streets tickets came on sale they were snapped up in mere seconds, prompting fans including Maverick Sabre (no less) to complain. Many claimed tickets for the recent seven-date UK were a “myth” with others reporting that the shows were sold out the instant they went on sale.

“Absolute pisstake trying to get The Streets tickets,” tweeted Alexander Binns. “How can they be sold out bang on 9am?” Robert Cop added: “The Streets tickets sold out in 1 second but I can already buy some from @TicketmasterUK's selling site for £200? Fucking criminal.”

In other Streets news, Mike Skinner reassured fans via incongruously posh fashion magazine Mr Porter that he wasn’t getting the band together just to make a few quid.

“Well, I don’t need the cash, otherwise I’d have done all the festivals, and the offers we got were insane.”

Go on mate, do some festivals. There’s a good lad.
