Cal Jam have today announced their 2018 festival line-up - and it includes a special appearance from Iggy Pop who is reuniting with the band he toured the album Post Pop Depression with.
Said band includes Queens of The Stone Age's Josh Homme, Dean Fertita and Troy Van Leeuwen and Arctic Monkeys' drummer Matt Helders. This is, according to the press release, a one-off reunion for the highly acclaimed supergroup.
The significance of this event for Gigwise comes as we named their show at The Royal Albert Hall in 2016 "The live event of the year," and the album was absolutely incredible. Standout track 'Gardenia' will be ranked up there with Iggy Pop's greatest hits.
This year’s festival that the Iggy Pop will headline will take place on 5-6 October and will return to the Glen Helen Regional Park and Ampitheater in San Bernardino, California.
Elsewhere, on the line-up rock gods Foo Fighters will headline, Jack Black and Kyle Glass will perform a Tenacious D set, brining “metal to the masses” and alternative rock icons Garbage will perform in 2.0’s 20th anniversary year. On the Friday, rock icon Billy Idol will headline.
The eclectic line-up also features a host of other acts including comedian Bridget Everett who Jerry Seinfeld called “one of the greatest live performers I have seen in my life” and a Smiths tribute band, Mexico City’s Mexrrissey, who perform Smiths and Morrissey songs in Spanish.
At last year’s event, a host of acts join the Foo Fighters on stage as part of a 12-hour rock marathon including Joe Perry from Aerosmith, Rick Astley, Liam Gallagher, Dave Koz. This year fans can expect more of the same with the Foo’s planning to close the event in epic style.
Tickets for the even go on sale on Thursday 17 May at 10am PST.
