More about: The BeatlesPaul McCartney
Paul McCartney has shared the video for ‘Fuh You’, the second single from his new album, Egypt Station and you can watch it here.
And a pretty sweet thing it is, too, as it charts a story of young love. Shot in black and white, the video opens up in a working class neighbourhood with a teenage couple walking up to a house. A quick peck on the cheek from the girl looks like it could develop into something else but they’re soon curtailed by the girl’s mother who calls her in. Once inside, she looks from her bedroom window and gestures for the lad to call her.

Knowing that this could be the start of something special, the lad walks home through the streets of Liverpool with that extra special bounce in his step that comes with the first flushes of love as he sings alongs to ‘Fuh You’.
The track possesses all of McCartney’s trademark melodicism and almost effortless ability to weave a memorable chorus. Any fears of it descending into any of the gloopy sentimentality that drags the worst of his work down are soon assuaged. Check it out:
Musing in the track’s creation, Paul McCartney explained the writing process. He said: “Certain songs you’ve kinda written in advance of your recording session and certain other songs you make up in the studio and you’re just thinking of ideas as you go along.
“For this one, we were just thinking of little pieces of melody and chords and the song just came together bit by bit. And then I would try to make some sense of the story. It’s sort of a love song, but a raunchy love song.”
McCartney has certainly been busy of late with some canny promotion going into Egypt Station. The title of the album was announced on 18 June - his 76th birthday – and he finally appeared on Carpool Karaoke with James Corden a week before.
Later in July, McCartney then played two intimate gigs, both of which held huge significance for fans of The Beatles – one was at the Cavern Club in Liverpool were the band played their famed lunchtime sets in the early 60s and the other was at London’s Abbey Road studios where The Beatles recorded most of their albums.
Paul McCartney returns to live action duties in the UK with three gigs. He plays:
